Why are you voting again in 2010? No really, why are you?

Most people only vote every 4 years, but there are midterm elections across the country on November 2nd that are really important. Rather than tell you why we think that is, we want you to hear from you!

Bringing us to the Vote Again 2010 Video Contest.

About the Contest:
Create a 1-5 minute video answering one of the following questions.

• Why do you plan to vote again in 2010?
• Why should young people, who have increased their voter turnout steadily since 2000, vote again in 2010?
• How do you plan to inspire participation in our democracy?

You can talk about participating, you can focus on an issue, you can do something serious or creative or ridiculous, high tech or from your laptop—nothing’s off limits, just make sure your video doesn’t implicitly endorse any one candidate or party over another. Keep your content to the importance of voting or all the things voting impacts.

How submissions will be judged:
From now until October 29th, if you have a YouTube account you can vote for your favorite videos! From October 29th to November 1st, a group of judges will review the ten videos with the most votes to select a grand prize winner.

Here’s what they’ll be looking for:

• Video should effectively convey why the contestant is voting again in 2010, or why they believe young people should vote again in 2010 in a way that’s compelling, clear, and accessible.
• The video should be dynamic; contestants are encouraged to submit content that is inspiring, hilarious, and informative. Videos should convey one, or many, of these characteristics in a way that’s clear and compelling.
• Clarity. The video should be audible, and if text is leveraged, the text should be legible.
• Nonpartisan. The video should not advocate for one party over the other, winning videos should focus on emphasizing the importance of young people voting in the midterm elections.

How to submit a video: First, go to our youtube channel and sign into your youtube account to submit your video. Scroll down, and you’ll see the contest platform. Write in a quick description of your video (the title, your name) and submit your youtube link. (It’s that easy). By submitting your video, you agree to the Vote Again contest rules and conditions.

Who can apply: To be eligible to win, you must be a US resident and over 18 years old. You also can’t be affiliated with any of the organizations or sponsors participating in the contest.
